Our Local "Holy Grail" of Woodpecker Species

Posted by Bud or Dell (North Bethesda, United States) on 6 March 2017 in Animal & Insect.

I finally caught a pileated woodpecker at the suet feeder! I heard her calling yesterday morning and was hoping she had spotted the suet. This is the largest of the six woodpecker species that we have in our area. We are always thrilled to see one!

My wife Dell has joined me on this photoblog and will be posting some of her images.
